A police officer has been stood down after allegedly assaulting his newborn child.
The 30-year-old Western Australian officer was charged over an attack on his five-week-old baby on Sunday.
The child was taken to Perth Children's Hospital as a precaution.
Child Abuse Squad detectives charged the officer with aggravated common assault.
Western Australia Police on Thursday confirmed he was stood down from duty.
The man will face Midland Magistrates Court in suburban Perth on Thursday.
