Two men in New South Wales have been charged after allegedly crashing a drone carrying illicit drugs during an attempted delivery.

Around 11.45pm on Tuesday, police were called to a unit complex on Corrimal St in Wollongong following reports of two men acting suspiciously in the area.

Officers found the pair hiding inside the complex.

The men told the officers they had been searching for a drone that had crashed in the area.

Following a search, officers seized a damaged drone which was allegedly carrying a dog waste bag containing 66g of methylamphetamine.

The pair were arrested at the scene.

After police enquiries, a search warrant was carried out at a property on Cliff Rd in Wollongong yesterday afternoon.

During the search, officers seized a baton, an electronic stun device, 42g of methylamphetamine, and AU$4350 (NZ$5307) in cash.

The men, aged 24 and 43, were charged with supplying a prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity, entering an enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, and possessing a prohibited drug.

They were refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court on May 12.
