Person dies after car collides with motorcycle in Auckland

A car flipped over following a collision in Auckland's Howick.

A person has died and another has been injured following a crash between a car and motorcycle in the Auckland suburb of Howick this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Pakuranga Rd around 2.25pm, police said.

In an update this evening, police said one person had died at the scene.

A vehicle could be seen on its roof surrounded by firefighters and police, according to a 1News reporter at the scene.

Hato Hone St John was alerted to the crash around 2.22pm and responded with two ambulances, one rapid response unit and an operations manager, a spokesperson told 1News.

One person was taken to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.

Pakuranga Rd was closed between Hutchinsons Rd and Botany Rd, and Angelo Ave was closed to Willoughby Ave.

"Police are asking motorists to avoid the area and expect delays," police said.

The serious crash unit attended and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing.
