John Campbell is TVNZ's Chief Correspondent.
John Campbell started his life in journalism as a cadet reporter at RNZ. Since then, he’s worked as a general reporter, a political reporter, and a current affairs reporter.
He co-hosted 3 News, with Carol Hirschfeld, for seven years. He fronted Campbell Live for ten years. He hosted Checkpoint (on RNZ) for two and a half years and was a member of the (TVNZ) Breakfast presenting team for three years.
He’s hosted every election night (on either TV3, RNZ or TVNZ) since 1999. He’s now TVNZ’s Chief Correspondent.
Among the awards John’s won are Best Investigative Current Affairs, Best Presenter (three times), Best Scoop, and the Presenter of the Year (Radio) in the Association for International Broadcasting's 2017 global awards.
