One person has been taken to hospital after their car plunged down a 100m cliff in the Coromandel early this morning.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) spokesperson said crews recieved a call to a motor vehicle incident in Kereta, Thames-Coromandel District just before 1am.
At the scene, firefighters found a vehicle down a 100m cliff.
Crews from Manaia Hauraki, Coromandel, Tapu and Thames responded, alongside specialist rope rescue teams from Hamilton and Taurua.

The FENZ spokesperson said rope rescue teams rescued one person from the vehicle, who was then taken into the care of St John.
St John said it was called at 12.53am to a car off a cliff, and sent one transport ambulance, a local prime responder, a first response unit, and a helicopter.
One patient in moderate condition was transported to Auckland Hospital.
