One in critical condition after Akl crash, allegedly fleeing from police

A person allegedly fleeing from police is in critical condition after a crash in Auckland's East Tāmaki this afternoon.

Police said Highbrook Drive had been closed after the incident.

At about 12.20pm, police said it had observed a motorcycle travelling at speed and undertaking dangerous manoeuvres on Highbrook Drive.

"Police attempted to signal the motorcycle to stop, and moments later it was involved in a crash with a member of the public."

Hato Hone St John said the person had been transported to Auckland City hospital in critical condition.

The Serious Crash Unit was also in attendance.
